about

The melancholy sweetness of Meagan Trees’ voice cannot hide the force of nature in her quietly confident delivery and rock-steady guitar playing. Her first single “Haven,” pours out of her like a cool breeze on a summer’s day, but is lyrically and emotionally delivered as a dramatic mountain landscape. Nature and love of life influence this Dumaguete-based artist, who cites Lisa Hannigan as her biggest songwriting influence. Though some have compared her sound to that of Australian electronic duo Vallis Alps, few who have heard her can really compare her to any other artists. “Haven” is the first offering of this truly original artist. - Lilystars Records

lyrics

Take you with me when I sleep
A part of me that wants to leave
A home to feel what could have been
An avenue of love within

Then you came along
You watched as I sprung
From lilacs to lillies
You kept them growing inside of me
Oh, how I came to be
Oh, how you let things be

I found a place
Just for us
Look for me
Where the desert meets the sea
We belong there, we belong there

And time’s such a waste
When you and I
Both sail different seas
And breathe different trees

Oh the things that I long for
Oh, how I came to be
Oh, how you let things be

I watch the years fall down like leaves
And tides break free from the sea
Still waiting for that same old place
So darling won’t you come with me

Woah, woah, woah
Oh, how I came to be
